Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, who have just returned home after serving mission in other countries in Africa, undertook the cleaning of the Rokupr Government Hospital, Freetown. Speaking at the end of the exercise matron of the hospital, Sister Zainab Kamara, expressed gratitude to the missionaries and other members of the church, for what she referred to as a great venture in cleaning such a big government hospital located in the East end of the Freetown.

"This is where a lot of sick people both in the Eastern and Western parts of the city come for treatment", she said. The venture undertaken by the church was very significant, as all the inmates in the hospital appreciated their efforts. Sister Kamara maintained that what members of the Church have done will always be remembered by the sick, the community and government.

Habibu Charles, a member of the itenary, on behalf of the missionaries also thanked the staff, management and patients for allowing them to undertake the exercise. He told the staff of the hospital that the exercise was a community service and it is an ongoing activity. He revealed that the church is always looking for opportunities to undertake such community services. "What has been done today is the beginning of friendship", he said. Habibu Charles expressed the church’s desire to render other forms assistance to the hospital in the future.
Sister Agnes Conteh, another member of the church, disclosed to Awareness Times that the main purpose of the exercise was to bring together Sierra Leonean members of the church who have returned home after rendering service to other African countries. As missionaries, she revealed that they participated in similar community services in African countries, such as: Nigeria, Ghana, Congo Brazzaville, Kenya and Uganda. Such community services, which are part of the activities of the church, bring together members as they discharge their duties in humility and faith in the service of others. The cleaning of the Rokupr Hospital was among one of their activities sponsored by the President of the Ghana Accra Mission of the Church, Robert Gay.

She therefore thanked President Gay for his love and concern for the Saints of Sierra Leone: he has done a lot to support members of the church who are in Sierra Leone. The Sierra Leone Returned Missionaries Unions (SLRU) is embarking on the exercise as a way of portraying its motto: "True to the Faith" which will continue to set the pace of service, humility, and faithfulness to the Lord Jesus Christ. Sister Conteh called on all members of the Church to remain faithful and be committed in the service of the Lord.
