Fifteen youthful Sierra Leonean entrepreneurs are currently receiving training from the Society for Democratic Initiative (SDI)-Sierra Leone as part of its Salone Education and Entrepreneurship Development (SEED) Programme at the Sierra Leone Indigenous Business Association office on Circular Road in Freetown.
The programme aims to educate creative youths on the creation of new business ventures and to offer the essential leadership and communication skills.
Speaking to participants at the opening ceremony, SDI’s Executive Director, Emmanuel Saffa-Abdulai admonished the benefactors of the programme to make good use of it since hundreds of people applied for the programme but only fifteen could be accommodated.
He admonished participants to attend all the 45 lectures, noting that missing any lecture means a student will be asked out of the programme.
He disclosed that at the end of the program, a grant of US$ 1000 will be provided to the best student by Zain.
Executive Secretary for the Sierra Leone Indigenous Association, Mrs. Williams in her statement, said they are working with SDI to mentor and train the student for sustainable development and in an effort to develop youth entrepreneurship in Sierra Leone
"Getting such training in entrepreneurship in Sierra Leone is not easy taking into consideration the monetary involvement," she said while encouraging the students to make good use of the opportunity provide them by SDI.
She particularly singled out the female participants to live up to expectations as there is an award for excellent performance for the best female performer.
