OBITUARY: Mother of Sierra Leone President, Mrs. Alice Rosaline Koroma
So very sad to announce the death of the President's mother, Mrs. Alice Rosaline Koroma. She just turned 80 years old last Wednesday June 27th. She was hale and hearty until 11pm last night when she went to bed after her usual Christian prayers. She got a heart attack in her sleep and by 3am this morning of July 6th 2012, she passed away. She will be deeply missed by her children especially her eldest son, Ernest Bai Koroma, who was very close to his mum.

Sorious Samura Flees Sierra Leone in middle of the night
Sorious Samura has run away from Sierra Leone. Apparently, he traveled by road in the middle of last night through Sierra Leone's border with Liberia. When the matter was resumed at the courts this morning, the ACC Prosecutor Reginald S. Fynn told the jam-packed court that their witness has run away and so could not continue his cross-examination today. When asked by the Judge if there was a possibility for the witness to ever come back and continue to be cross-examined, Lawyer Fynn said he could not provide such an assurance but said, "maybe by September or October, he might come back". Today was the day that the video evidence was to have been used to cross-examine the witness. Observers noted of how the accused, Momoh Konte strategically fell ill yesterday when the evidence was to be used to cross-examine the witness as the technical audio-visual expert of Konte's Defence Team had not yet arrived in the courts. The expert was in the court this morning all set to prepare to assist the Defence in the cross-examination using the video evidence tendered. According to sources, the Defence had been prepared to expose some startling CUT-&-PASTE manipulation of the audio and video channels of the editted documentary as compared to the original recordings as shown in the transcripts tendered by the ACC prosecution itself. Meanwhile a transcript of what happened in Court yesterday has been published in today's edition of your favourite AWARENESS TIMES newspaper. CLICK ABOVE LINK TO READ AND ENJOY THE ENTERTAINMENT.

Sorious Samura Confesses during Examination in Sierra Leone Court: "Abdul Sinah is my wife's brother"
Sorious Samura has confessed in court today in Freetown that the man shown in the AL JAZEERA documentary as a so-called "Environmentalist" and/or Community Leader was the elder brother of his wife, Mariama. However, Sorious told the court that he did not know the man was his wife's brother at the time he presented him to the world as a so-called environmentalist. "Yes, Abdul Sinah is my brother-in-law; my wife's elder brother but I did not know he was her brother at the time I was doing the interview with him. All I knew was that he is an environmentalist" Mr. Samura stated as the spectators in the court room roared with laughter at his explanation. Earlier, Samura arrived in court heavily guarded with armed OSD police officers and when he finished his testimony, he was whisked away in an unmarked jeep under heavy police escort to an unknown location. He should appear in court on Monday for cross-examination by lawyers for Momoh Konte. Today's episode was marked with interesting high points. More later. It is worthy to note that last November, during a live radio exchange between himself and Publisher Sylvia Blyden, Sorious Samura had told listeners in Freetown that his wife was not related to the man in the documentary called Abdul Sinah. Samura had lambasted Sylvia Blyden as an "ojukokoro journalist" for bringing out the allegation of his familial relationship with Sinah; he had termed the allegations as false to the extent of saying the woman he married was of the 'Bundu' family and not the 'Sinah' family. Today, he has accepted that Blyden was correct all along. The man in the documentary is the blood brother of his wife Mariama. Meanwhile, click on the following link for more on AWARENESS TIMES' investigative take on who Abdul Sinah was.

Sierra Leone Former President Kabbah Loses Eldest Son
OBITUARY: So sad to announce the death of the eldest son of former President Kabbah who passed away this morning in Freetown following a short illness. Mohamed Kabbah (aka Ahmed Kabbah) was an unassuming young man whom at the height of his father's presidency, never allowed power to get to his head. He was always courteous to the least of mortals and was naturally very humble by nature. He was married with children. He will be buried tomorrow afternoon.

Dr. Abass Bundu making a Statement to the Sierra Leone Police CID
If there was ever a time that Dr. Abass Bundu needed good media management, it is now. The last thing Bundu needs right now is a Djamba Cowboy making matters worse with his vile and foul writings. Abass Bundu's current so-called media handlers are simply making things worse for him in the court of public opinion. Throughout the entire time I have been covering the saga, I have refrained from condemning Bundu and have focused instead on calling for an explanation from Julius Maada Bio about his own role whilst highlighting that Bundu had respected us enough to explain to us all back in 2005.

Schulenburg can't be Persona Non Grata and stay in Sierra Leone until February 9th
Schulenburg would remain on record as possibly one of the worst United Nations diplomats to ever be sent to Sierra Leone. His tenure has been plagued with scandal after scandal. If he is not physically dragging UN staff by the neck (hence the nickname HITLER), he would be mentioned in embarrassing stories of love affairs or he would be going to the U.N. to endorse apologies rendered without speaking to those who had been apologised to. I do not think it is fair to say President Ernest Koroma alone had problems with him. Many, many other Sierra Leoneans did. Despite all the U.N. cash he used to ensconce himself in Sierra Leone, it was Schulenburg himself who signed his death warrant for his diplomatic tenure in Sierra Leone. Schulenburg acted in a low-down and insensitive manner many a time. Ask the families of the 29 people executed by NPRC if Mr. Schulenburg ever made overtures to them after they bitterly complained his endorsement of Maada Bio's apology without ever speaking to them first.

Sierra Leone Update on Aziz Carew Saga & also on the Attack on Awareness Times website
SLPP, which likes to spout its gender credentials, in Unity Press newspaper for today, published that well-respected female Police Doctor, Dr. Rashida Kamara, the female medical doctor who co-signed the discharge of Aziz Carew yesterday is not professional in her medical practise because she is supposedly dating an APC Big-man. Every woman who does something in her sphere of work which goes against the grain of the SLPP is supposedly not professional because they are supposedly dating APC Bigmen. But that is the gender-sensitive SLPP for you. They insult all the women as call girls like some of them recently did on FACEBOOK. That is the SLPP's current calling card. Intimidation and Violence with a good dose of LIES on top. Even news websites are not spared their violence.

BREAKING NEWS ON FACEBOOK YESTERDAY
Aziz Carew has a short while ago been handed over to the Director of the Sierra Leone Police's Criminal Investigations Department. According to my very, very competent medical sources at Connaught Hospital, there is absolutely no reason to keep him at Connaught Hospital as, except for signs of some soft tissue sensitivity (i.e: pains) when his right shoulder was being examined, there is nothing wrong with him physically or neurologically.
