In Sierra Leone, Brigadier S.O. Williams appointed new CDS

He was former Joint Force Commander in the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF), later appointed Assistant Chief of Defense Staff, then Acting Chief of Defense Staff, a position he held until yesterday 27th June 2012 when he was finally approved Chief of Defense Staff (CDS) of the RSLAF.

According to the Minister of Defense, Mr. Palo Conteh, Brigadier Samuel O. Williams has been officially approved Chief of Defense Staff by His Excellency President Ernest Bai Koroma. The new appointment according to the minister is based on merit. Brigadier Samuel O. Williams is replacing Major General Robert Yera Koroma who has been severely sick since October 2011. He was first admitted at the Choithram Hospital in Freetown then later flown to Accra Ghana and then to Germany and finally back to Sierra Leone and admitted at the Choithram Hospital again where is currently receiving treatment.
